Age suitability

Latchen is designed for adults in romantic partnerships, age 18 and over. This page explains who Latchen is intended for and why we believe it is appropriate for a general audience rating.

Who Latchen is for

Latchen is a private memory system for two people who have chosen to share their lives together. It is built for adult partners managing the practical and emotional realities of a relationship — shared expenses, coordinated calendars, ongoing conversations, and the accumulating context of a life built together.

You must be 18 years of age or older to create a Latchen account.

What Latchen does not contain

Latchen contains no:

• Sexually explicit content, imagery, or themes
• Violence, gore, or content depicting harm
• Profanity in its interface or default content
• Gambling, real-money gaming, or wagering
• Alcohol, tobacco, or drug-related promotion
• Horror, frightening, or mature themes
• User-generated public content of any kind

Communication within Latchen

Latchen does not include open social features, public profiles, friend lists, or messaging with strangers. Communication within the app is limited to two paired adults who have explicitly invited each other using a private invite code. There is no way to search for, contact, or be contacted by users outside your pairing.

Pairi, Latchen's built-in AI assistant, is an AI-based reflection and recall tool that operates within your pair's private context. Pairi does not connect you to other users, does not generate explicit or harmful content, and is designed for relationship reflection and memory recall.

Why we self-rate as 4+ on the App Store

Apple's App Store rating system asks developers to indicate the presence of mature content categories such as violence, sexual content, mature themes, or unrestricted web access. Latchen contains none of these categories.

While Latchen's subject matter — relationships, shared finances, and adult life logistics — is not intended for or marketed to children, the application itself does not contain any content that would warrant a higher rating under Apple's criteria.

The 4+ rating reflects the absence of objectionable content categories, not an endorsement of Latchen for children. Latchen's terms of service require users to be 18 or older.

Why we self-rate at 13+ in some other contexts

In contexts outside Apple's App Store rating system, Latchen may be rated 13+ to reflect that the subject matter (relationships, finances, shared life planning) is oriented toward adults. This is a precaution to ensure younger audiences are not exposed to content they may not contextually understand, rather than a reflection of inappropriate material.

Protections for minors

Latchen does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 years of age. If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, we will deactivate that account and delete all associated data. If you believe a minor has accessed Latchen, please contact us at privacy@latchen.com.
